How to Generate Leads From Social Media?: An Underrated Strategy

Social media platforms provide an ocean of opportunities to both, users and businesses. There are thousands of things or maybe more that we can do with social media.

However, people often overlooked this part as they don't know the details and know-how of social media.

Social networks are not just about posting festival posts, catching up with your friends and family, and replying to comments. There is an insane amount of potential lies in social media sites that can make your brand a huge success. You can leverage popular social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or Twitter to promote your personal brand, generate leads or you can use it to grow your business.

No, I am not kidding! With billions of active users, social media channels can help you find people that are interested in your company's products or services.

In other words, it can help you generate more leads.

What is lead generation?

Lead generation is nothing but the process of bringing consumer interest in your products or services.

How to generate leads from social media?

Because of easy internet access, people now spend 144 minutes a day scrolling social media feeds. Not to mention, that's more than 2 hours a day.

Today, social media has changed the dimensions of earlier lead generation strategies and tactics. Image, text, video, polls, surveys- social platforms offer multiple ways of generating consumer interest in your business product or service.

And that's the reason social media became an ideal place for businesses to find the target audience and convert them into leads. There are countless articles about lead generation techniques but very few on lead generation strategies.

With the right lead generation strategy in place, businesses can generate a good number of inquiries even if they have low numbers of followers. I used to generate 4-5 leads a week when the company's total number of followers stood at 151.

The thing to keep in mind is that different businesses need different kinds of strategies. Lead generation techniques that work for one business might not work for another. However, one key strategy that can bring the result is, push the right content to the right audience at the right time on a right channel.

Let me break this down into something simple:

  • Create content for the same product or service for at least 15 days (stats, facts, data, details, service info, quotes, client testimonials)

  • Only post content related to the same product or service (For instance, if your business is into the Shopify development, create and push content related to Shopify only)

  • See and post when you get the maximum user engagement

For instance, the company wanted to market its BigCommerce development services in the USA and Canada, so I collected every related information on BigCommerce from the internet.

Later, I segregated that information into stats, facts, service info, quotes, client testimonials. I passed on these details to the graphics design team and asked them to make shareable content copies.

I posted the shareable content copies on each social channel and particularly, everywhere. By saying everywhere, what I mean is, on the feed, on the timeline, in stories and in various business groups. I kept hammering people constantly with the company's BigCommerce development services. And no, I wasn't being salesy but I was trying to provide every possible information about BigCommerce development.

And in just 3 weeks, inquiries started popping up in the inbox. I spend zero money on paid ads yet I managed to generate 4-5 genuine leads per week. Be it a LinkedIn, be it a Facebook, or be it an Instagram, this lead generation strategy only works when you are consistent with your actions and understand your target audience's requirements.

Also, your social media profile needs to be updated and optimized. It should have all the required information such as the brand logo, brief company description, contact email, website, and address.

Your main motive should be to provide value. If you pitch others in a first meeting, there is no chance they will convert. But if you will build a rapport and relationship with the audience first, they are moe likely to consider your offer. Share good content and engage with your audience. Polls, giveaways, AMA session, quick replies will help you create brand authenticity on social media platforms. With this approach, I even earned plenty of compliments on the company's social presence despite a low number of followers.

Initially, you won't get the desired result but once you are consistent, you will experience the potential of social media. Don't consider social media platforms as just platforms for branding. Instead, leverage the power of social media to generate leads and grow your business. I have generated more than 5 Million impressions and countless leads from social media that too without spending a dime. Need someone to help you crush your marketing goals?
